Sterling Charles Lytle

Sterling Charles Lytle 10/2/1986 - 7/3/2012 Born, lived and tragically died at 25 years of age in Tucson, Arizona after being the victim of a hit and run accident on June 28, 2012. Sterling graduated in 2005 from Catalina Magnet High School, was Adjunct Faculty at Pima Community College 2008 to 2012, studied Emergency Medical Technology and Fire Science at Pima Community College, volunteered as firefighter for Helmet Peak (Sahuarita, Arizona) and was employed by Nogales Fire Department as EMT and Firefighter since November 2011. "Sterling" is survived by his loving mother, Sarah Lytle Barcelo; stepfather, Casey Barcelo; grandmother, Cleo Lytle and grandma Toni Frighetti. Surviving uncles include Simon and Randy Lytle. Surviving aunts include Sue Korp, Nancy Hoopes and Pamela Green. Many cousins and other relatives too numerous to mention will also miss his joyful and willing spirit. "Sterling" was predeceased by his grandfather, Benton Lytle in 2005 and his uncle, John Lytle in 2009. As a young boy Sterling dreamed and talked of driving fire engines and flying planes. As a young man Sterling joined the JR ROTC. He was an honor student throughout school and an avid history buff. He was always eager to help or serve those in need. He was a loyal, dedicated, compassionate and ambitious person who valued family and friends. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting, camping, BBQ-ing and being with friends. He was a mentor and hero to many and loved children and animals. Sterling fulfilled his childhood dreams when he attained a pilot's license before he could drive. In his memory, Helmet Peak Fire Department named their newest fire engine "STERLING". Sterling had a very special closeness and relationship with his mother who raised him as a single and dedicated "Mom". Sterling's goal in life was always to help others, and as an organ donor he continues to help save and preserve life, even through his death. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the LDS East Stake Center, 6901 E Kenyon. Interment will be at the LDS Binghampton Family Cemetery. The family and community have established special restricted funds in Sterling Lytle's name. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at any BBVA Compass Bank location: Sterling Lytle Memorial Fund. A very special thank you to the rescue firefighters, team of doctors, nurses and staff of UMC for the amazing quality of care and compassion. The family wishes to express their genuine appreciation to all who have been so supportive through this tragedy and encourage each of you to live your life with generosity of service to others. There are no words to describe this horrific and meaningless loss.
