Arturo R. Ruiz 79, lost his battle with Pancreatic Cancer on October 8, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Maria Eva Chavarin. He is survived by his wife, Maria Gilda Yepiz Ruiz and his five children, Arturo Jr. (Maria Eugenia), Gabriel (Gloria Ornelas), Laurie (Eugene Hays), Leti (Don "Ronnie" Meyer) and Kristina Marie. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and grandchildren who will miss him greatly. He had 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He served his Country honorably in the US Army and was extremely proud of having fought in the Korean War. He was a pillar in the South Tucson Community, and through his work knew and helped a great many people. He understood the value of hard work, (and made sure his children did also) and worked long hours for anyone who had fallen on hard times. He was always available. Generous, friendly, a man who was very proud of his family and always came through. He left a huge handprint on the hearts of anyone who knew him and with his loss, we are truly diminished. Gilda cared for him tirelessly and loved him, and us, unconditionally. The family wishes to thank all his friends who shared this journey with us, and in particular Dr. David Schoenbaum and Casa de la Luz Hospice whose service and compassion knew no limits. Visitation will be held Monday, October 15, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Rosary 7:00 p.m. at MARTINEZ FUNERAL CHAPELS. Mass will be Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church followed by an interment at South Lawn Cemetery.
