Maria Virginia Tellez

Maria Virginia Tellez; age 80, of Tucson, Arizona passed away on October 13, 2013.Preceded in death by her loving husband; Juan T. Tellez of 40 yrs., and a great grandchild; Graciana Leighanne Guerrero. Maria is survived by her six children; Rosemary (Charles) Haneberg, Juan (Becky) Tellez, Elizabeth (Richard) Alvarez, Dolores (Donald) Claunch, Robert (Jan) Tellez, Virginia (Ronald) Rostek. Maria was born on the working ranches of Old Sahuarita whose family then settled into the Historic Barrios of Tucson making her a Native Tucsonan. As a child she attended Ochoa Elementary & Safford Middle School. Maria enjoyed cooking traditional Mexican recipes that were handed down with love from her great grandmother. When her children were young she would often share her famous “Tacos” with the neighbor children, sometimes making up to 8 dozen tacos for her family and the children friends. Maria Virginia spent her life devoted to her husband Juan and loving and nurturing her 6 children. Maria was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and is survived by her sister Rosario Mendibles and brothers; Jesus Burruel and Fernando Burruel. “Mom, we know you are smiling down upon us”. Visitation will be at Martinez Funeral Chapels, 2580 S. 6th Ave., on October 18, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary. Mass will be on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Mother Of Sorrows Church. A burial will follow at Rincon Memorial Cemetery, Vail, AZ.
