Rose B. Dominguez

September 4, 1920 — October 21, 2013

Wife, mother, sister and friend, passed away Monday October 21, 2013 at 9am in her own bed, in her own home surrounded by family and friends. She was born to Adolfo and Jacinta Baeza in Marfa, Texas in 1920. The only daughter of several siblings, she never lacked for a dance partner. In 1946 after a war time correspondence she married our father Porfirio and they spent 50 years together creating a home and children. We like to think of her as sitting at a banquet table on a throne with a crown of roses and a cup of coffee in her hand. As she used to say, “cafecito, muy bonito, calentito”. At that table is our father/her husband Porfirio and her son Robert, her brothers who have left us, aunts, uncles, cousins, the list is long as the table is huge. When the love of her life passed away in 1996, she went on loving and championing the children they made together. She has seen grandchildren born and from them great grandchildren. She loved being a homemaker and anyone who knows was “accidentally” there in the afternoons when she began making her tortillas. Twice a day for as long as our father was alive. She loved reading and finding new recipes in the tons of magazine subscriptions she had delivered to the house. She was also known to slip a few recipes from magazines in Doctor’s offices. Later she was introduced to the joy of cruising and spent as much time as she could on the decks of a cruise ship out to sea enjoying the majesty of it all. She was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2000 and has fought the battle ever since. It was this same disease with all of it’s complications that finally claimed her life. A long life, lived well. Visitation is on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Martinez Funeral Chapels from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Our Lady of Fatima Parish at 10:00 a.m. followed by an interment at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Martinez Funeral Chapels, 2580 S. 6th Ave., Tucson, AZ.
