Maria Elena Romero 73, of Tucson, AZ went to be with our Lord on October 18, 2013. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She was born in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico on June 6, 1940 to the late Rosa and Walter Maldonado. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Francisco F. Romero, their first born child Margarita Romero Maldonado, and daughter Maria Elena (Helen) Romero and her sisters, Blanca and Rosalva and brothers, Emiliano, Walter, and Roberto. She is survived by her five children; Karla (Frank) Coronado, Francisco (Elvia) Romero, Alejandro (Enedia) Romero, Rosie (Eduardo) Garcia and son-in-law Jose Ballesteros; grandchildren, Alina Coronado, Junior and Luis Angel Romero, Juliana and Leonardo Soto, Nancy, Helen, JoAnna, Camila Romero, Alvaro Ballesteros, Eddie, Jazmine, Francisco, Maryhelen, Oscar, Alex and Gabriel Garcia; sisters, Miny Sepulveda and Lupita Cortez as well as many nieces, nephews, sister and brother in-laws and her friends, Lupe Meza, Mary Lopez and Lulu Torres. Mom loved life and was a fighter to the end. She loved taking pictures, traveling, talking with her friends, going to church, going out to eat, especially Olive Garden for her "camaroncito" (Shrimp Fritta). Mom we love you and miss you. You and dad can dance again on Heaven's floors. Visitation is on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Martinez Funeral Chapels from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Rosary at 7:00 pm. Mass will be on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Santa Monica Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by an interment at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Martinez Funeral Chapels, 2580 S. 6th Ave., Tucson, AZ.
