David Rubio Velasquez, 70, passed away November 10, 2013, after a six month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Survived by the mother of his children, Carmela, his children; Mayra (William) Beyerle, David (Lorena) Rubio, Sonia Rubio-Rivas, grandchildren; David IV and Andre Rubio, Alexis Rivas, Branden and Benny Beyerle, and two great-grandchildren. Brothers; Francisco Velasquez, Jose and Reynaldo Rubio, sisters; Lolita Valencia Rubio and Gloria Rubio Velasquez. Nieces, nephews, and godchildren whom he adored dearly. David was born in Nogales, Sonora Mexico, and immigrated to Nogales, Arizona in 1964. He was a professional Mechanic at Frank Cummings Ford and then managed to open his own automotive business, Rubio’s Garage, on Morley Avenue. Subsequently after his retirement he worked part-time at Wal-Mart. He was a talented musician with an amazing voice; he cherished his guitar with passion and was part of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Choir for many years. He was a great baseball player and a huge Diamondbacks fan. His smile, kindness, and sense of humor were admired throughout the community in Nogales and Tucson, Arizona. His favorite sayings were “Don’t work too hard, be a good girl” and “Oh boy”. May He Rest in Peace. Visitation will continue on Friday, November 15, 2013 in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, at Funeraria Noriega, at 11:00 a.m. Holy Mass Celebration to follow at 3:30 p.m. in Nogales, Son.
