Pastora Almazan Lopez, 80, passed away on February 16, 2014. She was born in Oquitoa, Sonora, Mexico on October 9, 1933. Preceded in death by her husband, Alfred G. Lopez where they lived together in Tucson, AZ; her brothers, Ricardo Almazan and Aldalberto Almazan and her sister, Francisca Chaira-Almazan. Pastora was a beloved wife, "jefecita," and nana that will be missed by her family and friends. Although difficult for her, the family was blessed to spend it with her during her last weeks. Survived by her brother, Marcos Almazan; sisters, Guadalupe Almazan and Odilia Calixtro-Almazan; children, Alfred A. Lopez (wife Judy) of Austin, TX, Jaime A. Lopez, Martin A. Lopez and Monica A. Lopez of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Brittany Burton (husband Greg) of Raleigh, NC, A. Justin Lopez (wife Sally) of Austin, TX and Mark N. Lopez (wife Allison) of New York City, NY; great-grandchildren, Johanna Burton, Lydia Burton, Bryce Burton and Chloe Burton of Raleigh, NC, Annabel Lopez, Lucy Lopez and Heidi Lopez of Austin, TX. The family very much appreciates the fantastic support and services provided to mom by the staff of Casa de la Luz Hospice. Services will be on Thursday, February 20, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 602 W. Ajo Way, Tucson, AZ 85713 beginning with a Rosary at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass. Burial will be at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3535 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705. Reception following the services at Martinez Funeral Chapel Reception Hall next door to the funeral home at 2580 S. 6th, Tucson, AZ 85713.
