George B. Ortega, 75, went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2015 with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary N. Ortega; son, George Ortega, Jr. (Corinne); daughters, Irene O. Trujillo (Gilbert), Diana Ortega, Yvonne O. Chavez (Jessie) and Vanessa O. Osorio (Socrates); brothers, Jose Luis Ortega and Bill Ortega; sisters, Carmen Parra and Mary Velasco; 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Trinidad Ortega and his brother, David Jesus Ortega. Mr. Ortega proudly served in the United States Army and Army National Guard. For that, he will be honored following his funeral Mass. He retired from the United States Postal Service after working as a letter carrier for 36 years. During his retirement, he sold real estate for 11 years and was a member of the Nogales Board of Realtors. He was also a member of the American Legion. In his past-time, George enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved having family gatherings, where he would constantly put a smile on everyone’s face with his witty jokes, and looked forward to their annual trips to Rocky Point on Father’s Day weekend. George will be remembered by his family as a hard-working, loving, patient, selfless; husband, father, grandfather and brother. His family will always remember his smile but know he’s in Heaven enjoying his favorite beer, Milwaukee’s Best. He will be greatly missed and forever loved. Services will be on Monday, January 19, 2015 at San Felipe Catholic Church beginning with a viewing at 12:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 1:00 p.m. Martinez Funeral Chapels is handling the funeral arrangements. www.martinezfuneralchapels.com
