Julio Serrano Gonzalez

July 30, 1948 — October 10, 2015

Julio Serrano Gonzalez “El Bacoachi”, 67, returned to his heavenly home on October 10, 2015. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him the peace that he needed. Julio was born to the late Oscar Gonzalez and Benigna Serrano, in Bacoachi, Sonora Mexico, on July 30, 1948. Although not having a traditional education himself, he was a firm believer of education and the importance of having one, a trait that he would later pass on to all his children. During his lifetime he would become a “jack of all trades” from carpentry, cooking, electrician, mechanic, plumber, etc. If it did not work, he would invent a way to make it work. Julio was blessed with a loving and caring family. He married his best friend Lupita Hernandez on June 26, 1971 in Nogales, AZ. They raised their children with love and humility. His disciplines were more of guidance in the form of his famous “long” lectures that they still carry with them today. They taught them the same principles, morals, humbleness and above all to be proud of their accomplishments. His family successes were his successes. Everyone that knew him, knew of his tremendous love and pride for his family. He was kind and always enjoyed to chat up with family, friends and even strangers; making those around him laugh. He would liven up the situation but, always in a good way. Everyone that knew him, was treated as a friend. As he departed he left everyone a vast amount of meaningful memories to treasure. A good son, husband, father, brother, uncle, godfather, neighbor, but, above all a good friend. He will be dearly missed by all his loved ones, with sadness in their heart but, at the same time content that he is now at peace with his creator. Julio is survived by his wife, Lupita; his children Julio Ricardo (Maria Coronado), Gabriel Arturo Laborin, Kismet Marie (Christian Flores), and Dagoberto Jesus (Fernanda Diaz); his grandchildren Cassandra Biridiana, Benjamin Xavier, and Phillip Elijah; his siblings Octavio Gonzalez, Ramon Gonzalez, Francisca Del Cid, Luz Amparo Gonzalez; he was preceded in death by his sister Sandra Macias and his parents Oscar and Benigna. Surviving uncle Francisco Serrano, and surviving aunts Remedios Bernal and Aida Samaniego. He leaves cousins, nephews, and nieces who will greatly miss his sense of humor and love for them. Funeral arrangements by Martinez Funeral Chapels, 891 W. Mariposa Rd., Nogales, AZ.
