Rey Alvarez, 52, Chief of South Tucson Fire Department, was called to his eternal resting place on April 7, 2016. He entered this world on September 5, 1963 in Tucson, AZ, born to Dora Alvarez. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Suzie Alvarez, loving children; Celina (Jack) Alvarez, Reynaldo and Jessica Alvarez, Maritza (Adrian) Alvarez, grandchildren; Bella Alvarez, Stevie Amarillas, Ayden Maxam, Reynaldo Alexander Alvarez, brothers; Peter and Adriana Ayala, Gilbert and Gail Alvarez, Frank and (Debbie) Alvarez, Ernie and (Marge) Alvarez, Robert and Janele Alvarez, sister; Marylou and Johnny Granillo. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Rey had a heart of gold and he was a very giving man. He loved to make people laugh. He loved his Fire Fighting family as if they were his brothers and sons. Rey once said, ‘’Im going to kick cancer in the ass” and he did just that two times but the last time he was too tired and the Lord took him home. You will be dearly missed by many. Rest in Paradise. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2016, from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m., with a rosary recited at 7:00p.m. at Martinez Funeral Chapels, 2580 S. Sixth Ave. A mass will be held on Monday April 18, 2016 at 10:00a.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church, followed by a memorial ceremony at South Tucson Fire Station #6223309, 1601 South Sixth Ave, from 11:30a.m. to 1:00p.m. Services Entrusted to Martinez Funeral Chapels.
