Federico "Hillie" Escareño

Federico S. Escareño, 88, went home to his Savior on September 16, 2016. When he entered those Pearly Gates he was reunited with his beloved wife of almost 64 years, Irma. Although left broken-hearted, his family has comfort knowing he is with the love of his life whom left him two short months ago, on July 10, 2016. Loving father to Gilberto "Hillie" Escareño (Margarita), Irma Beatriz Escareño, Alma Patricia Gallegos (Horacio) and Elvira A. Seezox (Steve); caring grandfather to Cristol, Cristobal and Ivan Escareño; Vanessa, Christian and Cesar Gallegos; and Steven and Daniela Seezox; protective brother to Raul Escareño, Ciria Sanchez and Julieta Escareño; great-grandfather to 8 precious great-grandchildren and trustworthy friend to many. Federico was born on September 9, 1928 in Los Angeles, California to Trinidad and Gavina Sanchez Escareño. He was also preceded in death by his brothers; Tony, Cuco and David as well as his sister, Lupe. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and proudly served our Country until January, 1947. Federico was well-known and respected from his many years of service at Safeway grocery store. He leaves behind a wealth of stor¬ies and fond memories. He loved sports and especially enjoyed playing golf with his close friends. He found peace in caring for his lush garden and when he wanted a little excitement, he’d dance and sing along to his favorite mariachi music. Federico was a very caring and compassionate person, and always put the needs of others before his own. He was a man of strong faith and never took for granted the simple things in life that he was blessed with. Funeral services will begin with a Visitation on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Rosary 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. all at Sacred Heart Church. Services will conclude upon Mass end. Martinez Funeral Chapels, 891 W. Mariposa Rd., Nogales, AZ, entrusted with funeral arrangements.
