Rosa, daughter of Miguel Lopez and Aurora Gaviño, was born in Mascota, Jalisco on May 27, 1932. Through her everyday loving spirit, Rosa taught us that everything in life was possible. She left this world instilling in us valuable life lessons; the importance of being humble was her best trait, as she always shared the little or the abundance that she had. She was a woman who always spoke with the truth, for all her wonderful traits, we now understand why the Lord wanted her by his side. She possessed a peaceful soul and a caring heart, a true treasure. "Nana Rosa" as she was affectionately called, continued her long family tradition of catering to her family every Sunday. Her kitchen had menudo ready all day for all her family and friends to enjoy. She loved to be in her kitchen, it was healing and rewarding to her. The kitchen still smells like her cooking as her daughters now carry her tradition. A unified family was very important to her and the stories she shared was a treat to hear. Through her own personal development in her favorite reading, Reader’s Digest, she was able to educate herself in many life lessons. She met her husband Miguel Gastelum when they were neighbors, she was only 13 years of age and created a beautiful home and family with 64 years of marriage. For all she did and for all the love she had for her family, she will forever be in our hearts. She leaves physically, but her spirit will live forever within us.
