Celia D. Lucero, age 91, entered into God's kingdom on December 30, 2016 after a 2 1/2 year battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Tucson to Pedro and the Natalia Duarte. At age 19 she moved to New Mexico, moving back to Tucson at age 34 where she spent the rest of her life. She was an excellent cook, well-known to offer her fire hot salsa and homemade tortillas. She loved to shop, loved music and loved to dance. She raised 11 children and several grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Arcelia Nunez Ward, Margaret Ruiz, Patricia Villa, Mareea Lucero Vega (John Vega), Elizabeth Lucero, and Dolores L. Victoria; sons, Michael, Paul and Gregory Lucero. She has 21 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 22 great great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her first husband Salvador Quesada; second husband, Herminio Lucero; sons, Herminio Jr and Martin; grandson Francisco Cristobal Sotomayor Lucero Duarte, her sisters Lupe Montano, Reynalda Gomez and brothers Ricardo and Ernesto Duarte. Visitation will be held at Martinez Funeral Chapels on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m., followed by a burial at Holy Hope Cemetery. A fellowship gathering will be held at 6120 S.
