Raymond Lewis was born December 25,1943 to Will and Ethel Bell Lewis. He is one of eight children born to this union. His father, Will Lewis, and brothers Bill and Larry Lewis preceded him in death. Raymond's mother remembers him as a loyal and determined son who believed that working hard and preparing for his future was critical. She recalls that Raymond would get up early every morning to prepare for his workday and was never late. Raymond had a strong sense of faith and believed in a higher power. His mother will miss him very much and she knows that Raymond is with the Lord. Raymond was a selfless, loving and supportive husband and father. Raymond's siblings remember him as a fun and loving big brother who did not allow them to get into trouble and insisted that they stay on the right track in life. He attended Dunbar Elementary School and Holstein Middle School. Raymond began working for the City of Tucson at the age of 17. He received several promotions during his tenure with the city. He retired after 36 years of service. Raymond is survived by his children, Raymond Lewis Jr., Helicia Burgess and Kevin Lewis all of Tucson. Karen Lewis-Fourcha and Chimere Lewis of Texas, Tamara Cooper of Virginia and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings James Lewis, Clarence Lewis, Janet Hammond, Vera Woodard, and Kenneth Lewis all of which reside in Arizona. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Martinez Funeral Chapels, 2580 S. 6th Ave., Tucson, AZ.
