Carmen R. Dicochea

February 8, 1940 — March 1, 2017

Carmen R. Dicochea “Memi”, 77, beloved Great Grandma, Nana, Mother, Aunt, Cousin and Friend; entered into eternal life on March 1, 2017. Her amazing life began on February 8, 1940 in Tucson, AZ born to and preceded in death by her parents; Joaquin Romero and Hortencia Aguirre. She is also preceded in death by her three sisters; Hortencia, Viviana and Connie and three of her own children; Adelaido Rodrigurez, Ruben Martinez and Cynthia Romero. She is survived by her children; Barbara (Isidro) Moreno, Diane (Jesus) Rodriguez, Martin (Marina) Rodriguez and Bernice Abril and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carmen is remembered for her kind demeanor as well as her outspoken personality and for her enduring volunteer work most recently at Casa Maria Soup Kitchen. She was a devout Roman Catholic who strongly believed in the power of prayer and often surrounded herself with her acquired religious antiquities. She had a rich affinity for various cultures and was easily drawn to the native roots found in our very backyard. Moreover her love for casino gaming was widely known, often enjoying slots and a round or two or ten of Bingo. To the very end her mind was sharper than most and she would attribute it to her gaming and card play, consistently playing solitaire in the comfort of her home. Her wit and humor were second none, leaving you wondering whether her comments were serious or not. Being always ready to tell the, sometimes brutal, truth, when she spoke everyone listened. Most often though, a favorite pastime was simply enjoying the childhood stories she would often share. A product of the Great Depression Era, her humility and piety showed through in her day to day life, despite the many obstacles one might encounter. She loved to talk about the Holy Bible and could often be heard quoting it; she also had a prayer and saint for every occasion whether it be in a time of need or an everyday topic. Carmen was beloved by many and though we trust her soul is in the greatest of hands – we miss you. “Eternal Rest Grant Unto Her O Lord, and May Perpetual Light Shine Upon Her. May Her Soul and The Souls of All The Faithful Departed, Through The Mercy of GOD, Rest in Peace.”Pascua Yaqui Memorial Ceremony will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 Pascua Neighborhood center, 785 W.
