Aureliano Padilla, 71, of Nogales, AZ peacefully passed away on March 14, 2017 at Casa De La Luz Hospice while surrounded by family. He was born on January 24, 1946 in Nogales, AZ. Officer “Nano” Padilla as he was known by his friends, honorably served his nation as a United States Army Military Police Officer from 1962 to 1968 and then the people of Nogales, AZ. He joined the Nogales Police Department on October 31, 1974 and proudly served his community for 28 years as a law enforcement officer until he retired from the department in 2002 as a Sr. Patrolman. Soon after retirement Officer Padilla moved to Tucson AZ to be closer to his son, Fernando and other family members. All who knew him know that his most cherished roles were being a father, grandfather, friend and proud servant to the people of Nogales. He was the oldest of eleven children and deeply cared for his family and community. Officer Padilla is survived by his son, Fernando Padilla, his wife Denisse; two grandchildren Sebastian and Nicolette, fiancée Elaine Moreno and her family; Martine, Renee, Xavier, Ella, Alyvia, Elias and Mateo, and all of his loving brothers and sisters, Arturo, Arnulfo, Armando, Genoveva, Alberto, Rosario, Araceli and Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Padilla and Rosa Flores Padilla and his two brothers; Alexandro and Alfredo. Funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday March 25, 2017 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Nogales/Santa Cruz Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).
