Ernesto Serna Celaya passed away on Monday, May 31, 2010; Memorial Day in Tucson, AZ. He was born April 12, 1908 in Santa Ana, Sonora Mexico. Ernesto had just celebrated his 102nd birthday with family and friends at The Fountains of La Cholla Retirement community, where he resided for the past five years. Ernesto was the grandson of the late Governor and General Francisco Serna of Sonora Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco Celaya and Otilia Serna, brothers, Francisco, Alfonso and Eduardo and wives, Eloisa Salgado and Catalina Valenzuela. He is survived by four sisters, Bertha, Carolina, Delia and Irene as well as ten children, Irma Alicia, Luis Ernesto, Yolanda, Jose Roberto, Ricardo, Eloisa, Rene Alberto, Norma Aidee, Martha Catalina, and Jorge, 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two on the way. Services will be held at MARTINEZ FUNERAL HOME in Nogales, AZ from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and a Mass will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Parish on Friday, June 4, 2010.
