Edith I. Pilcher (Shamburg) 77, a loving wife, mother, and sister. Edy was born December 20, 1932, on the Shamburg homestead at Randall, Kansas. Passed away July 26, 2010, in Tucson, Arizona. Preceded in death by her parents, and youngest brother, Ronald Shamburg of Tucson, Arizona. Survived by her beloved husband, Lewis Pilcher of 59 years; children, Rhonda (Philip) Davis, Roxie Simmons, Tucson, Arizona and Robert (Cherie) Pilcher of Latham, Kansas; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She spent 21 years following her husband around the world while he served in the USAF; from Texas to Japan, to the Carolina's, to Hawaii and even California, before they retired to Augusta, Kansas in 1972; moving to Tucson in 1998. She was a homemaker, a school secretary and always at her husband's side in all that they did. She enjoyed playing games and cards with her family and friends, traveling, flowers and books. U of A basketball was also one of her passions, as well as collecting elephant figurines. She will be missed by many friends and family. And so, in her dear husband's words from Lewy to Edy, "This I will remember, when the rest of life is through: the finest thing I've ever done is simply loving you." A Memorial in celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at Tucson Mountain Baptist Church, 5757 W. Ajo Way, Tucson, AZ 85735 with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations to Odyssey Hospice at 750 E. Foothills Dr., Tucson, AZ 85718 is suggested.
