Antonio Ramirez, Jr.

September 20, 1948 — August 5, 2017

Antonio Ramirez Jr., 68, of Nogales, Arizona, was called home to the Glory of our Lord on August 5, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents: Antonio Ramirez Sr and Maria Elba Gutierrez.

He is Survived by his loving wife of 44 years: Margarita S. Ramirez; Sons: Antonio Ramirez III (Elsa) and
Roberto Ramirez (Gloria); Daughter: Maria Elva Badillo (Luis); Brother: Alfonso Ramirez; Sister: Rosalinda Cota; 8 Grandchildren.

Antonio was in the Army. He then worked in law enforcement for most of his life. He previously worked with the Nogales Police Department and Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office. He also worked at the Courthouse as a translator. From there he moved on to work with U.S. Customs and Border Protection as a Federal Officer where he served for 20 years.

Antonio “Tony” Ramirez Jr, where to begin? There are so many things to be said about this wonderful man.  Tony was an amazing person, full of life, knowledge, spunk and wit.  His sense of humor… well what can we say about that? It was simply out of this world! You can always count on him for great company and good laughs.  Tony had so many stories to share with everyone, whether it was from his childhood “travesuras”; his days as a drummer with the “Shakedowns”; his adventures in Vietnam; his meeting, conquering and marrying the love of his life (Margarita); his endless COP stories with his hilarious mishaps; his days as an Immigration Inspector (later Customs) with his public encounters and countless anecdotes (his co-workers know what we are talking about).  And what can we say about his “wit”, oh boy! Tony had something for everyone, whether they liked it or not. Tony’s ability to come up with clever, funny, smart remarks and comebacks was priceless.  Tony was definitely one of a kind.

Antonio was so proud of having served his country and wore each uniform and badge with honor, pride and dignity.  And we were all so very proud of him.

Antonio loved his beloved family.  He was a loving and wonderful son, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, father-n-law and friend.  He loved his wife with all his heart, as did she.  He was so caring, giving and always put others before him.  He brought our family so much joy and happiness.  He was a great role model and our “go to guy” whenever one of us needed help or advise.   He taught us how to be responsible, independent, hardworking, honest, and respectful.

So many wonderful things to say about this magnificent man… Our family has suffered a tremendous loss.  All we can do is remember all the good memories he left us.  We will always carry him in our hearts; honor and cherish his memory until we meet again….

May He Rest in Peace…. The original “lil guy”……..

We would like to thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences.  It has been truly touching to hear from so many people.  Thank you for sharing your stories of him with us…we hope that you continue to do so.  From our family to yours, Thank You from the bottom of our hearts, God Bless.
