Arturo V. Rodriguez, a pioneer of bringing soccer to Tucson, Arizona, passed away surrounded by his family on May 26, 2023, at the age of 97.
Born on November 8, 1925, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, Arturo was a very humble and religious man who led a meaningful life full of love and hard work. He was a noble father who always put his family first and was known for being very giving.
Arturo had a great passion for soccer and spent much of his life playing and coaching the sport. He was especially proud of being the President of the Tucson Menlo Park Soccer League and felt fulfilled as he watched others in his community learn to love the game.
In addition to soccer, Arturo enjoyed spending time outdoors and repurposing furniture. He would often personalize his furniture to his liking with his creative touch. He was also a very talented singer.
Arturo was a master tile setter and his art work can be seen throughout Tucson and surrounding communities.
