On Friday, September 11, 2020, Aurelio Flores Espinosa - a loving husband, father, and grandfather - passed away peacefully at the age of 88. Aurelio was a man of faith, family, and honor. Aurelio believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior and lived out his faith in the Catholic tradition. He was the loving husband to Gloria C. Espinosa for 59 years. Together, they had five sons and daughters: Aurelio (Alison) Espinosa, Sandra (Robert) Canchola, Liza (Roberto) Montiel, Judith (Pedro) Armendariz and Gerardo Espinosa. They were even blessed with eight grandchildren. The eldest of seven children, Aurelio would reunite with his siblings and extended family annually in San Carlos, Mexico to enjoy the beach, the sun, and each others’ company for over 2 decades. These memories of love and joy persisted throughout the rest of his life. Aurelio’s wish was for his ashes to lay and rest in San Carlos, a place of respite and joy for him.Throughout his life, Aurelio was a man of principle and honor. He was extremely hardworking and diligent with all his responsibilities. He had a successful career as a driver at Citizens for nearly 50 years. He served in the U.S. Military, and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Both Gloria and Aurelio pushed their children to pursue higher education and meaningful careers, a legacy they passed on to their grandchildren. So many people feel blessed to have had an abundance of precious and wonderful moments with Aurelio. The love and care he gave to every member of my family and his dear ones will be his legacy, one that continues to live in the hearts of all of them today. Aurelio passed with a smile on his face, reminding us all of the words of God: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7).
