Belen Torres, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and daughter, passed away on June 26, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of hard work and laughter. Belen, known for her friendly nature and infectious sense of humor, touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
Born in Tucson, Arizona, on September 1, 1956, Belen was a beacon of light from the moment she entered this world. Her parents, Armando Quiroz and Belen Q. Olivas, raised her with love and instilled in her the values that would shape her remarkable journey.
Belen dedicated 26 years of her life to the Sunnyside School District as a custodian. Throughout her career, she exemplified dedication and professionalism. Colleagues admired her unwavering work ethic and the pride she took in her job. She not only kept the schools clean but also nurtured an environment where staff and students felt valued and cared for.
But Belen's impact extended beyond her professional life. She had a zest for life that was truly infectious. Gatherings with family and friends were never complete without witnessing her competitive spirit during card games. She refused to accept defeat gracefully but always managed to create an atmosphere filled with laughter and joy.
One of Belen's true passions was cooking. She was an exceptional cook who loved experimenting with flavors and creating mouthwatering dishes. From hearty meals to delectable desserts like cakes and cookies, every bite from Belen's kitchen was a taste of pure indulgence.
Belen's charm knew no bounds as she effortlessly formed friendships wherever she went. Her warm personality drew people toward her like a magnet. She had a unique ability to brighten even the gloomiest of days with her jokes and lighthearted nature. Making others laugh brought immense joy to Belen's heart, leaving lasting impressions on the lives she touched.
On July 12, 2023, a Memorial Gathering will be held to celebrate Belen's life at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson. Starting at 3:00 p.m., friends, family, and community members will have the opportunity to pay their respects and share cherished memories of Belen. The event will conclude at 6:00 p.m., leaving ample time for everyone to honor her memory.
Belen leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. Her son, Robert J. Torres, and daughters, Melissa A. Torres and Eva M. Torres "Hector Gonzales" were blessed to have such a remarkable mother. They will carry her love and strength in their hearts throughout their lives. Belen is also survived by her brother Armando Quiroz Jr. (Lupe), sisters Margaret (Ernie) and Lorraine Ochoa (Richard); and Lisa Quiroz, 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
In the quiet spaces left by Belen's departure, we find solace in knowing that she lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering love. Her spirit will continue to guide us as we remember the remarkable woman she was.
