Cecelia Irene Smith, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away on January 15, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 80. Born on June 25, 1944, in Miami, Arizona, Cecelia led a life rich in love and joy, surrounded by family and friends who cherished her deeply.
For 22 years, Cecelia dedicated herself to her role as a waitress at Levy's store, where her warm personality and open-minded nature left a lasting impression on all who dined there. Her love for animals, particularly horses and dogs, illustrated the depth of her compassionate spirit. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was attending bingo nights, savoring meals out, camping under the stars, or enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and #1 fan Elvis Presley.
Cecelia was proud of her family, and her greatest accomplishments revolved around her children and loved ones. She is survived by her devoted husband, William E. Smith; her son, Manuel A. Gutierrez (Christina); daughter, Guera Urbina Loya; her beloved granddaughter, Stevie Lynn Valenzuela, Lisa Teyechea and Steven Urbina; and her siblings, including Yolanda Gomez (Manny), Linda Teyechea, Frank Rios (Terrie), and Ron Romero. Additionally, she held a special place in her heart for her goddaughter, Joanna Perez, as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Ramona Gutierrez; daughter, Denise; brother, Steven.
Cecelia Irene Smith will be remembered for her generous spirit, her zest for life, and the profound impact she made on everyone who knew her. Her legacy of love and dedication to family will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to experience her warmth and kindness.
