Claudia Rebecca "Becky" Lechuga, a beloved woman known for her selfless love, passed away on August 11, 2023, in Tucson, Arizona. She was born on April 4, 1945, in Hanford, California. Becky's dedication and love were apparent not just in her personal life but also in her career and relationships.
While education took a backseat due to familial responsibilities, Becky worked diligently for many years at a shoe factory. Her strong work ethic and commitment made her an invaluable member of the workforce. Despite facing obstacles early on in her life, she found joy in seeing her honorary children flourish and succeed.
Becky's always filled a home with warmth and love. Family gatherings were made special by her culinary skills. Her ambrosia salad with homemade whipped cream became a Thanksgiving tradition that brought smiles to everyone's faces. On rainy days, she would bake peanut butter cookies that had people coming back for more. Her expertise didn't stop there; she was also known for her delectable jelly rolls, corn patties, and sopa con leche.
Outside the kitchen, Becky had a few cherished hobbies and interests that brought excitement to her life. She derived pleasure from buying lottery scratchers and experiencing the thrill of anticipation they offered. A trip to Goodwill stores was not only an opportunity to find treasures but also a way to connect with the community. Additionally, watching football provided her with entertainment and allowed her to bond with friends and family.
As a person with exceptional strength and honesty, Becky had a straightforward and direct personality. Her sternness came from love and intention as she guided those around her towards their best versions. She celebrated their accomplishments wholeheartedly, embracing their joys as if they were her own.
In honor of Becky's life, a visitation will be held on August 21, 2023, at Martinez Funeral Chapels. The visitation will start at 11:00 AM and conclude at 3:00 PM. Friends and family are encouraged to gather, share memories, and find solace together during this difficult time.
Becky is survived by her beloved siblings Ernestine "Tina" Martinez, John "Dido" Flores (Joyce), Juanita "Dee Dee" Flores and Robert "Bosco" Flores (Anne), four generations of nieces and nephews as well as God Children. Her unconditional love and unwavering support will be missed by all who knew her.
As we bid farewell to Becky, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives. Her legacy will live on through the cherished memories we hold dear. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her love and strength continue to inspire us all. We will miss our dear Becky and her famous phrase, "what the shit!"
