Cruz Sanchez

May 3, 1928 — June 20, 2020

Our beautiful Matriarch earned her wings peacefully at home on June 20th, 2020 surrounded by those who loved her dearly.  The last of her generation she outlived all her brothers, sister, and parents.  Born in Tucson AZ on May 3rd, 1928, she spent the majority of her childhood here before moving to Casa Grande to help support her family.  In 1968, she returned to Tucson with her family where she began working full time during the day as a cashier at Lucky’s Supermarket, and attended night school through the University of Arizona’s One Step Program, earning her degree in Business.  Then preceded to work at University Medical Center in the medical records department where she remained until her early retirement.  She was a great inspiration to us all.

She is preceded in death by her parents Secundino and Ysabel Sanchez.  Her four brothers, Antonio Sanchez, Ramon (Margarita) Sanchez, Jesus (Victoria) Sanchez and Jose (Gwendolyn) Sanchez, and her only sister Prudencia (Jesus) Garcia.

She leaves behind her one and only daughter Barbara Necoechea and three grand-children Barbara (Ricardo) Castillo, Anthony (Annabelle) Garcia and Margarita Sanchez. She also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren, Robert, Ricardo Jr, Anthony Jr, Rene, Rueben, Joshua, Aliyah, Emily, Abigail and Aiden.

Although her daughter was an only child, her heart was open to many and she loved them all as her own.  Undoubtedly, the love was returned to her tenfold. With an unmeasurable love, she never turned away those in need and welcomed them into her home with open arms. She leaves behind an empty void in our hearts, but we take comfort in knowing she is amongst her loved ones and as a result, we now have an army of beautiful guardian angels watching over us.
