Daniel Joe Martinez, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on September11, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 91. Born on August 6, 1933, in Dodge City, Kansas, Daniel was a cherished member of his community and a devoted family man.
Daniel graduated from Dodge City High School on November 9, 1961, and soon after, he married the love of his life, Kimi Kimiya. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, and together, they nurtured a family that would carry on Daniel's legacy of kindness and compassion.
A proud veteran, Daniel served in the United States Air Force for 22 years, dedicating a significant part of his life to military service as a veteran of the Vietnam War. His commitment to his country was matched only by his deep love for his family.
Daniel was known for his loving nature; he was a devoted dad to his children—Mary Diaz, Hatsuko Cornejo (Jose), Mondie Zitzman (Larry), Danny Martinez (Anna), Jimmy Martinez, Dean Martinez (Maria), and Sergio Martinez. His warmth and guidance will forever echo in the lives of his children and grandchildren. Daniel is also survived by his brother, Tony Martinez (Belia), who shared many fond memories throughout their lives.
His legacy continues to thrive through his extensive family, including 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Each descendant carries a piece of Daniel's spirit, reflecting the love and values he instilled in them. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kimi Martinez; granddaughters, Jessica J. Diaz and Celia Martinez; parents. Juan and Antonia Martinez.
Daniel Joe Martinez will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by all who had the privilege to know him. His loving spirit and the memories forged with family and friends will live on in the hearts of those he left behind.
