Dianna V. Chavez

Dianna V. Chavez was born on September 25, 1949 at St. Mary’s hospital in Tucson, AZ to Jesus and Connie Corral. She was the first born and was the older sister of her brothers, Daniel, Dennis, and Darrell. She was the only daughter and sister in the family. Dianna was raised in South Tucson where she spent most of her life. She attended Carrillo, John White, and Wakefield and graduated from Pueblo High School as part of the Class of 1967. She also had a love of music and played the clarinet in her high school marching band. She went on to attend the University of Arizona with a major in nursing and had her only child, Richard Jesus Corral Sr. on June 21, 1974. With their son and family present, she married the love of her life, David R. Chavez, an Army Veteran on November 24, 1984. Dianna worked as a medical coder for many years before retiring from the University Medical Center.

Dianna was a contributing member of Santa Cruz Lutheran Church in her neighborhood where she attended worship for many years. She had a love for Christ our Savior and enjoyed working with everyone in the church. She always had a talent for crafts and enjoyed working with the craft group at church to raise money through the annual craft fair. She loved watching Home and Garden TV and enjoyed her evening novelas. Dianna enjoyed traveling, visiting friends, and spending time with her family. She had a love for bingo, crafting, mariachi music and spending quality time with her friends. Dianna was a proud Democrat and a huge patriot for her country. She was a dedicated poll worker for Pima County for many years. She couldn’t wait for Biden to be elected as our President later this year. Like many other democrats, if that day comes, I know she will be rejoicing.

Dianna was a devoted wife and loving mother and put all of her life’s effort into raising her son and grandkids. Dianna took pride in her kids and spent countless hours nurturing, loving, and caring for each of her 5 grandkids, Richard J. “Chuy” Corral Jr, Estevan Corral (Maria), Sgt. Anjelica Corral, Ivan Corral, and Lincoln Corral.

Dianna took pride as a Nana in her grandkids’ many accomplishments, such as when her only granddaughter enlisted in the Army, when her grandson Estevan married the love of his life, when her grandson Chuy graduated high school with honors from the JTED Fire Science class, and when her grandson Ivan received Student of the Month at Miller Elementary School. When each of her grandkids spoke their first words and took their first steps, she was there! She was always laughing and smiling. She was very friendly and always welcomed people into her home. She always had food and a beverage for anyone. She was a very forgiving woman, selfless, and allowed many people into her life. She made time for everyone. She spent countless hours on the phone with her brothers, extended family, and friends listening to their hardships and struggles and offering support and prayers.

Dianna lost her battle to Covid Pneumonia and went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2020. She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband David R Chavez; son, Richard J Corral Sr. (Nora); brothers, Dan Corral (Liz), Dennis Corral (Deborah), Darrell Corral (Cathy); her grandchildren, Richard “Chuy” Corral, Estevan Corral (Maria), Sgt. Anjelica Corral, Ivan Corral, and Lincoln Corral; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Jesus and Connie Corral.We will always remember Dianna for her loving heart and compassionate soul. She was a giver and not a taker. She was always willing to bless others and was always grateful for what God blessed her with. She was an angel here on earth and was always present to those in her life. Her life, character, and legacy will live on through her son and grandchildren.
