Tucson, Arizona

Edgar Francisco Castañon, beloved son, brother, father, and friend, passed away on January 24, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 27, 1976, in Caborca, Sonora, Mexico. Edgar was a man of many admirable qualities - friendly, hard-working, funny sense of humor - but above all else, he epitomized love and kindness.

As we gather to celebrate Edgar's life and bid him farewell, we invite you to join us for the following services. On February 7th at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson, a viewing will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM that evening. The next day, February 8th at Sacred Heart Church in Tucson, a Mass will be held at 11:00 AM to commemorate his life and offer our final goodbyes.

Edgar's vibrant personality shone through in every interaction he had with others. With his infectious laughter and kind heart, he made friends easily and left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His daughter Yaralet was the pride and joy of his life; he cherished their bond deeply.

In his free time, Edgar found joy in simple pleasures. He had a mischievous side and loved playfully teasing his daughter. He relished every meal she prepared with love and always managed to eat it all. Gathering with loved ones for joyful get-togethers filled his heart with happiness. And when the music started playing, there was no stopping Edgar from dancing with pure delight.

Survived by his parents Francisco and Ana Denia Castanon; siblings Denia Castanon Soto, Erik Ivan Castanon Soto and Jorge Alberto Castanon Soto; girlfriend Clariza Reyna Carrillo; nieces and nephews Gabriel Camarillo, Jorge Alberto Castanon Lopez, and Jorsa Melanie Castanon; and numerous extended family members and friends, Edgar leaves behind a legacy of love and joy.

Though Edgar's journey on earth may have come to an end, his spirit will forever be present in our hearts. He touched so many lives with his kindness and affectionate nature. Let us remember him for the laughter he shared, the love he gave unconditionally, and the countless memories he created.

In honoring Edgar's life, we find comfort in knowing that his battle with cancer is over. He has found peace, free from pain, watching over us as our guardian angel. We mourn his loss deeply but take comfort in knowing that his memory will continue to inspire us to live our lives with the same love and kindness that defined him.

Edgar Francisco Castañon will forever be remembered as a beacon of light in the lives of those fortunate enough to have known him. As we lay him to rest, let us carry his spirit within us, spreading love and kindness wherever we go. May he find eternal rest, knowing that he made a difference in this world by simply being himself.
