Edmee Violet Valdovin Botwright fell asleep in the Almighty’s arms on January 28, 2021, at the age of 68, in her hometown of Tucson, Arizona. Edmee’s resilience through her struggle with dementia demonstrated her desire to keep the memories of her loved ones not only within her heart but also always at the forefront of her mind. Her love and dedication to her family was second only to her dedication and service to the communities she loved as extended family and always gave selflessly to both as a mother, sister, daughter, granddaughter, cousin, nurse, confidant, scholar and leader.
Edmee (Violeta) will be lovingly remembered and survived by her husband of 43 years, Harold L. Botwright and children James S. Botwright, Pamela R. Anderson and Joseph H. Botwright. Father, Samuel R. Valdovin; Sisters, Julie Duarte and Aurora Valdovin; Brother, Samuel Valdovin; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Her eternal home was prepared by her mother, Bertha R. Valdovin; grandmother, Julia Lopez; grandfather, Salvador; great grandparents, Rayo and Belen Alvidrez and her son, James E. Espinoza.
Edmee graduated from Pueblo High School Class of 1969 and followed her calling into the healing sciences. She Graduated from Saint Mary’s College – Samuel Merrit College of Nursing in California in 1993 with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She continued her education demonstrated by her graduation from the University of Arizona’s College of Nursing with her Master of Science in Nursing degree in 2001. She received many advanced certifications within nursing but she was especially proud of receiving the credential of Public Health Nurse.
She was known for her compassion and dedication to her family, faith and traditions. Edmee always welcomed everyone with open arms, a warm smile and with a sincere compassionate heart. Her love of casinos, Olympic figure skating, road trips and family vacations will always be remembered. She will always be remembered as a caregiver, healer and advocate for her family and the residence of Pima County through her dedication to public health nursing as the Vaccine Preventable Disease Program Manager for Pima County for 20 years until her retirement. She selflessly cared for aged family members and friends with compassion and love – a true representation of the Nightingale Oath she took as a nurse. Her family will always remember a warm home filled with delicious smells from both her cooking and expertise in baking beautiful cakes and desserts. Her loss is palpable within not only our home but in the world as well.
Our family wishes to thank the staff of Copper Canyon, the Neptune Society and Martinez Funeral Chapel for the love and care given to our family in our time of need. The compassion shown was beyond compare.
Edmee would want everyone to hold each other a little tighter, show each other how much we love one another, see the beauty within all aspects of life, support and uplift each other, but most of all – she would want us to know she isn’t gone but always in our hearts. The sky gained another star and heaven, a loving angel.
