Emma Gonzales Cortez peacefully passed away on April 1, 2024, in Tucson, AZ, at the age of 94. She was born on May 16, 1929, in Jerome, Arizona to Cipriano and Maria Louisa Gonzales. Emma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family, creating countless cherished memories with them.
Emma will be remembered for her nurturing spirit and the love she showered upon her family. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, whether it was traveling together, watching "Young and Restless," or hosting gatherings at her home where everyone would come together. Emma's playful nature shone through in activities like playing jacks or Pick Up Sticks, and crossword puzzles creating moments that will forever be treasured by those who knew her.
She is survived by her children David Jr. (Connie), Victor, Sergio (Brenda), Emma, Eva (David), along with her grandchildren; David III (Priscilla), Monica, Cynthia, Veronica (Jonathan), Christina, Lydia (Jason), Sabrina, Mary Helen, Victoria, and Savannah. Great-grandchildren; Antonio, Angelina, Carlos, Isaiah, Jesus (Giselle), Elyassia, David, Leyla, Michael, Maximiliano, Amaya, Dominik, Luna-Brook and Draven. She is also survived by her sister Aurora and many nieces and nephews. Emma is preceded in death by her husband David Sr., her son Roberto, and her granddaughter Lydia.
A mass at St. John's the Evangelist Catholic Church 602 W. Ajo Way will be held Thursday May 16th at 10:00 a.m., directly followed by a Celebration of Life Luncheon at El Pueblo Activity Center 101 W. Irvington Rd-Multi Purpose Room A.
Emma Cortez will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her memory will live on as a guiding light and guardian angel for her family.
