Our beloved Enedina “Ena” Olivas Esquivel passed away on May 13, 2024 at Footprints of Grace Hospice in Tucson, Az. Ena's departure has left a void in our hearts that cannot be filled. We mourn the loss of a truly remarkable individual.
Enedina was born in Nogales, Arizona on April 22, 1949, where she spent her formative years on the family ranch in Tubac. She was a proud graduate of Nogales High School, class of 1968. Later, she relocated to Tucson, where she attended Durham Business College and embarked on her career at the City of South Tucson.
Ena pursued higher education at the esteemed University of Arizona, successfully obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration while fulfilling her role at Fred G. Acosta Job Corp, leaving a lasting impact until her well-deserved retirement.
Enedina's legacy lives on through her beloved husband, Augustine “Gus” Esquivel, and her stepchildren Gus (Lisa) Esquivel, Anita (Joe) Sartain, Arthur (Andrea Lugo), and Gina (Kimo) Flores. She also leaves behind her dear siblings, Hector Olivas, Elias (Bea) Olivas, Pete Olivas, and Teri Olivas-Aros, as well as her step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and the revered matriarch of the Olivas family, her Aunt Mary (Henry) Larrivas.
Ena is preceded in death by her parents Filiberto B. and Guadalupe; sister, Fidelina Olivas; brother-in-law, Al Aros and sister-in-law, Ofelia Olivas.
Throughout her retirement, Enedina loved traveling with her husband. She devoted her time to caring for their family dog, Spuds, who held a special place in her heart. Ena also found joy in visiting her family's ranch, reading, and shopping. She cherished the moments spent with loved ones over meals, be it lunch or dinner. Enedina also dedicated herself to serving as a Lector at San Xavier Mission and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, living out her faith. In honor of her father, she selflessly became an Auxiliary Member of the American Legion Post 69 - Cocio Estrada in Tucson. As Secretary, she took pleasure in preparing delicious tacos and menudo alongside her fellow Auxiliary members.
Ena's absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. We will deeply miss her presence, and our hearts ache with grief as we come together to mourn. The details of the funeral services are currently pending.
May her gentle spirit find eternal peace in heaven, and may we find solace in the memories we shared with her.
