Ernesto Caballero Ornelas, 62, was called home to the Glory of Our Lord on Friday, September 1, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Ornelas. He is survived by his mother, Carmen Ornelas; Step-mother, Angelita Ornelas; sons, Ernie, Gabriel, Miguel, and Angel (Ariola) Ornelas; daughters, Janelle (Michael) Chukwueke, and Monique Ornelas; brothers, Joe, Oscar, Martin, Francisco, and Jose; sisters, Lupe (George), and Gloria (Gabe); Also, 4 grandchildren. Ernesto, also known as "Pelon" was born in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. He was brought to the States at the young age of 1 year old. He was a graduate of Pueblo High School, Class of 1974. He then went on to work at the mines with his father at Anamex and then Magma. He also worked at a concrete block manufacturing plant known as Stewart Block. He enjoyed in his past-time listening to music, especially the Oldies and Brown Sounds (Tex-Mex, Cumbias, Nortenas). He also enjoyed supporting his Arizona Sun Devils! And He loved his Lay's Potato Chips! He was a great provider to his children and always put them first ahead of himself. He loved his kids till the end. He was a family man who had lots of love for his brothers and sisters. He enjoyed being with his family and spending time with friends during the holidays or when it was convenient to get together. He liked to cook Menudo and Tamales for his family to enjoy and he had a great charisma to be around! His door was open to all, he would never turn his back on anyone. His smile could light up a room and his witty responses like "Cheap Sucker" were very humorous! He had a great style that was genuinely classy with a crease in his pants and a fresh cut hair appearance!He will forever have a special place in our hearts and his presence will be dearly missed by his friends and all those who love him!Services will begin at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson on Thursday, September 7, 2017 with a Visitation at 9:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m. A Mass Celebration will be held at St. Augustine Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. Burial interment will take place after Mass at the Nogales City Cemetery. Services will conclude after we commit our brother to his final place of rest.
