An avid historian with a passion for US history, Gino possessed a wealth of knowledge about nearly every Civil War battle. His devotion to US history was matched only by his love for his family. In his later years, Gino embraced the role of "Papa" with unparalleled joy, treasuring every moment spent with his grandchildren. His family brought him immense pride and happiness, and he cherished witnessing the growth of his children and grandchildren. Gino was especially fortunate to have recently journeyed back east to meet his youngest grandchild, who was born in December.
Gino is survived by his wife, Maysa, his children Eugene and Nicole, his stepdaughter Noha, and their spouses Megan, William Butler, and John Kamar. He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren: Laila, Gianna, Luca, Gus, and George. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Matteson and Michele Cosby, brother James Punelli and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Rose Mary Punelli, father, Eugene Frank Punelli, and sister, Eugenia.
While he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit, accompanied by the aroma of a cherished cigar, will continue to guide and inspire us every day. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will forever remain etched in our hearts. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was dearly loved and will never be forgotten.
