Eva Diaz, a beloved matriarch, was born on September 02, 1928, and left this world peacefully on April 23, 2025. Her life was characterized by her profound love her family and the joyful memories she created with them. Eva was a dedicated mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and daughter whose warmth and kindness resonated through the hearts of all who knew her.
Christmas held a special place in Eva’s heart, a time when her home was filled with laughter and delicious aromas. It was a cherished tradition for the family to gather around the table to enjoy her famous menudo and tamales. The joy of the season blossomed further as she made buñuelos, inviting her grandchildren into the kitchen to help, weaving a tapestry of love and togetherness that will forever be remembered.
Eva took immense pride in caring for her grandchildren, lavishing them with affection and special treats like her delightful arroz con leche and the best homemade beans, always served alongside her freshly made tortillas. Her backyard was a lively gathering spot where neighbor kids would often be found enjoying her homemade machaca. Those beautiful memories of play and laughter under the sun stand testament to the nurturing spirit she embodied.
In addition to her family, Eva had a deep affection for animals, particularly her beloved dogs. Blacky was a cherished family member who traveled everywhere with them, while Angel, her chihuahua, became her steadfast companion after the passing of her husband, Reynaldo Diaz. Eva’s bond with her pets was filled with the same love she shared with her family—a nurturing presence that extended to every corner of her life.
Gardening was one of Eva’s great passions; her mornings began with the gentle care of her plants, demonstrating her nurturing spirit in all aspects of her life. As the sun rose, so did her dedication to ensuring her garden flourished, reflecting her desire to nurture both her family and all living things. She also enjoyed walking the track at Wade Carpenter Middle School, where she embraced the beauty of nature and the joy of movement.
Eva leaves behind a vibrant family, including her devoted sons, Jose Reynaldo Diaz (Laura Diaz) and Sergio Diaz (Virginia Diaz), her loving daughter, Diana Parada (Cesar Parada), as well as her brothers Raul Leon (Anita Leon †) and sister Berta Arellano (Oscar Arellano †). She is also survived by her pride and joy—eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, who will carry her legacy of love forward.
A celebration of Eva’s life will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nogales, Arizona. The Rosary will begin at 1:30 PM followed by a Mass at 2:00 PM on April 24, 2025.
Eva Diaz will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the love she fostered and the memories she created with her family and friends. It is through these cherished moments that she will always be a heartbeat in the lives of those she loved.
