On Friday Aug 14, 2020.Mary Utley Went to be with Jesus. We have lost a kind, loving, and beautiful woman. Mary was a loving and gracious woman whose smile could light up any room. God gave her the gift of kindness, hospitality and generosity. Not everyone has the gift of generosity and Mary was the most giving person. You would never hear her say no to helping someone in need. From giving people clothes to handing out lollipops, gum or gummy Lifesavers to the children in church, her smile was most vivid when she was giving.

Farkhandeh Motawasseli Mirai-Utley better known as “Mary” was born in Mah shahr, A small village in Iran on February 16th 1959 to Ali Mohamad Miraee and Fatemeh Carabkesh. one of 9 children.

At age 16 Mary had heart surgery to repair a life-threatening condition, always having a fighter spirit, she recovered and never made much of a fuss of the physical challenges that she would constantly overcome.

As an adult She moved from Mah Shahr to Shiraz, this is where she had her 2 sons, Bejan and Babak. It was there Mary worked for a phone manufacturing company for over 10 years soldering connections on phones. Not being afraid of adventure and willing to risk her life She fled Iran and found herself in Germany where, by the grace of God, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Knowing that God had more for her and her two boys, Mary made the long voyage to America in 2000. In America Mary fit in well with her outgoing personality and her desire to do something for God. It was clearly God’s handiwork that she wound up recommitting her life to Christ at the Christian Fellowship Ministries on Grant and Alvernon in Tucson Arizona in 2007. It was there that she grew in her relationship with God and in 2009 she married the love of her life John Utley. In 2011 Mary suffered a catastrophic stroke that nearly killed her, but thanks to the hand of God and the caring faithfulness of her loving husband she lived nine more years. In those years Mary and her husband John have left a legacy of faithful, committed, married love and faithfulness to Jesus Christ. She has made a long-lasting impression on everyone that has had the privilege of being around her.

Mary is survived by her husband John, her son Bejan, who now resides in California with his wife and son. Also her son Babak who makes his home in Tucson Arizona, John’s adult children (Adina, Bianca, Kassy, Austin) along with their families and many wonderful grandchildren. She also has Her 6 siblings are as follows;

Fereshteh Motawasseli Mirai, Farideh Motawasseli Mirai, Fariba Motawasseli Mirai, Akbar Motawasseli Mirai, Fereydoon Motawasseli Mirai, and
Ahman Motawasseli Mirai and numerous extended family still living in Iran today.

Mary Will always be remembered and her impact on her family, church, and friends will continue to live on.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on August 29, 2020 her body will be laid to rest in the veterans memorial cemetery in Marana, Arizona, where she will have a shared plot with her husband John. Mary Utley will be missed greatly but there is a wonderful joy that comes in knowing that she is with Jesus her Savior in heaven for eternity.
