Francisco J. Islava, 71, departed this earthly life on Sunday, October 8, 2017. His final days and hours were spent in the presence, comfort, and love of his family. He is survived by Amanda Islava, his loving wife of 43 years; his sons, Francisco Javier Islava Jr (Sandra Mendoza), Alberto Islava, and Raul Islava (Nadia Gil), as well has his daughters, Liliana Webb (Jason) and Alicia Islava (Ary Figueroa); his brothers Humberto Islava, Miguel Angel Islava, and David Islava; and his sisters, Yolanda Islava, Blanca Islava, and Maria Del Carmen Gerardo “Carmen”; and lastly by his 7 grandchildren: Marlene Ozuna, Aidan Islava, Kendra Islava, Kayla Islava, Adrian Islava, Isaac Webb, and Carlos Castelan. Francisco’s life was defined by his perpetual generosity, his strength of character and body, and his dedication to providing for his family. Never one for idleness, he would work tirelessly to improve the lives of his family, his friends, and even the lives of strangers. His love extended to caring for animals and growing plants. He took great joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren, and could often be found spending time at working at his other passion – restoring old VW Beetles, frequently sharing his knowledge with his children. For a time, he operated an Ice cream truck in the area, and was known for his secret “chile de limon” recipe. Although his hands have now been laid to rest, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather for whom we will forever be grateful. Francisco’s legacy is a life lived with love, generosity, strength, kindness, tolerance, and compassion for all, and we take comfort in the knowledge that he is now resting in the arms of God. Services will begin at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Nogales on Friday, October 13, 2017 with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. a Mass celebration will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish at 1:30 p.m. Burial interment will follow at the Nogales City Cemetery.Services and arrangements entrusted to Martinez Funeral Chapels, 891 W.
