Francisco Enrique Rivas

Francisco Enrique Rivas, a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on May 5, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona. He was born on July 11, 1947, in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. Francisco leaves behind a legacy of dedication and love that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Francisco devoted 35 years of his life to the of Tucson, where he worked tirelessly in the Parks and Recreation Department. His commitment to his work was unwavering, and he leaves behind a lasting impact on the city he served.

Aside from his professional accomplishments, Francisco was a man of many interests and talents. He was known for his storytelling abilities and infectious sense of humor. His guitar melodies filled hearts with joy as he sang his own songs. Francisco found solace in books and had a passion for astrology; he could name all the stars and even owned a telescope to gaze at them.

During his time in the United States Army, Francisco bravely served during Vietnam, a testament to his courage and patriotism. He was immensely proud of his military service and always held his fellow veterans in high regard.

One of Francisco's greatest joys in life was his family. He is survived by his children: Ernesto C. Rivas (Melva), Juan-Gabriel Rivas (Mary Eve), Alma Angelina Molina (Manuel), and Evangelina Edwards (Sean). His grandchildren Ernesto Jr., Jazmin, Selena, Gabriel, Mariel, Ruby, Alexzander, Dominic, Caleb, Alanny, Sean Jackson, Hannah, and Haiden will forever carry on his memory with love. Additionally, he leaves behind great-grandchildren Dominique, Juliet, Leilani, and Bella Sewa.

In addition to his immediate family members are many brothers and sisters who mourn his loss deeply. Francisco also shared special memories with the mother of his children, Alma Angelina Carrillo. His nieces, nephews, and numerous friends will always remember him for the warmth and kindness he brought into their lives.

The services to honor Francisco's life will be held at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson on May 17th for visitation starting at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The graveside service will take place at Holy Hope Cemetery on May 18th at 11:30 AM.

Francisco Enrique Rivas will be dearly missed but never forgotten. His spirit will live on through the memories shared by all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace knowing that he touched the lives of many with his laughter and love.
