Frank M. Aguilar

September 12, 1937 — December 6, 2017

Frank M. Aguilar, 80, of Tucson, Arizona, went home to our Lord on December 6, 2017. Preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Esther “Toni” Aguilar. He is survived by his five children, Frank Jr. (Dolores), Daniel (Michele), Elita, Alida and Frances (Rudy); brothers, Tonio (Clara), Chale, Lalo (Sylvia) and Rudy (Anna); sister, Lupe, primo hermano Tony (Natalia); 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Frank was a warm, traditional, patriarch and leader whom desired to provide for his family and be of service to his community. He was a Navy Seaman who served honorably in the U.S. Armed Services and was a member of the American Legion Sahuaro Post 68 and Tucson Marine Corp League. His public service did not stop with his sacrifice to our Nation but continued in his work with our community as he often went out of his way for others. Frank was an ethical man whom worked diligently at many jobs before establishing his career with the Social Security Administration where he guided citizens with disabilities in receiving relieving benefits. He even continued to represent clients after his retirement and up to his final days. He became ordained and married many couples performing meaningful, beautiful ceremonies. His thoughtful words were his gift to the newlyweds as he strived to impress the importance of the institution and promise of marriage. He was always positive choosing to enjoy life to the fullest everyday. He loved to eat and often planned his next meal while still enjoying his current meal and planning future meals down the road. Frank was a gentleman, raising his family in a traditional, old-fashion, (somewhat sheltered), way. Even though he was a man of great stature, he still had fun and was spontaneous, like when he dressed up to impersonate Elvis for his loving wife’s birthday. He was a romantic, often surprising his Honita and his daughters and granddaughters with flowers and corny poems he had written on special occasions and "just because." In his early years, he loved to play baseball on the family baseball team the "Aggies," and in later years played softball. He had a longstanding passion for playing golf with his brothers and close friends, treasuring the times they had and the memories they made. Frank was involved in politics and fought for what he believed and thought was right. Though he was well accomplished in a bustling life of many endeavors, Frank’s reason for being and inspiration was his family. He was a loving and caring husband and was the best father and grandfather to his children, grandchildren and new great-grandchild that he was able to meet prior to his passing. His family meant everything to him and we will miss him dearly.
