Gerardo Alonzo Avila, a beloved member of the Tucson community, passed away on June 24th, 2023. He was an incredible caregiver who dedicated his life to helping others. Gerardo was born on September 19th, 1961 in Tucson, Arizona. He grew up in a tight-knit Catholic family that instilled in him the importance of faith, family, and caring for those around him.

Gerardo attended Salpointe Catholic High School where he excelled academically and personally. After graduating from high school, Gerardo decided to pursue a career in healthcare. For most of his professional life, Gerardo worked as an emergency medical technician and caregiver, touching countless lives with his kindness and compassion.

Gerardo always had a great sense of humor and loved telling a good joke or story. His infectious laughter could light up any room and bring joy to anyone fortunate enough to be around him. He lived by the mantra "family first," always making sure that his loved ones knew just how much he cared about them.
