Gilbert Sanchez Montaño 62, was freed from all of his pain and suffering on December 27, 2017 in Tucson, surrounded my his loving family. He is now rejoicing in Heaven with his parents, D. Joe and Maria Teresa Montaño and nephew, Jasper Tapia. He is survived by sisters; Margie M. Tapia (Manny) and Blanca Ruiz; brothers, Robert "Bobby" Montaño (Kathy) and Roy Montaño (Maggie). He never had any children, but loved his nieces and nephews; Hector, Ana, Noe, Natalie, Mark, Leanette, Maria Elena, Celeste, Max, Zoe, Stevie, Alicia, Sabrina, Erika, Sariah, Anthony, Dasia, Rudy and Ty, as his own. He was affectionately known to them as "Tio Gilbert." He also leaves behind many, many friends that will also miss him as well as his fur babies; Guiness, Sophie and Zena.
During his younger years, Gilbert was a very good athlete. He was involved in many sports but especially enjoyed playing baseball; as an adult he played in a softball league. Gilbert loved lounging on the sofa watching his favorite television shows or cheering on his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed listening to music. Gilbert made friends very easily because of his kind nature and outgoing personality. Everybody was "mijo" or "mija" to him.
A special thank you to all of his caregivers including Natalie, Mark, Margie, Leanette and Blanca. He may be gone physically, but will forever live in the hearts of everyone that knew him. Baby Gil, until we meet again.
