Nogales

Glendia Meek passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on August 29, 2023 after a short illness.

Born in Pecos, Texas on November 8, 1944 to Homer O. and Ethel P. Smith, Glendia was the only girl in the family with four brothers, who she loved dearly. Of the four, Ward O. Smith, J.R. Tollett, and H. Wayne Tollett preceded her in death. Glendia’s brother, Smitty (Lonnie O. Smith) lives in Texas.

Glendia moved to Nogales, AZ in 1976 with her husband, Millard, and three children: Mel Meek of Texas, Melinda (Butch) Bachelier of Rio Rico, AZ, and Scott (Lesley) Meek of Goodyear, AZ. Millard and Mel preceded her in death.

Glendia worked for several of the local produce houses and as the manager of the Cat Scale in Nogales.

Her greatest joy was spending time with family. Mel, Melinda and Scott provided her with seven beautiful grandkids: Michael (Peggy), Clara and Justin of Texas, Franky (Brittany) of Rio Rico, AZ, Taylor of Tucson, AZ, Addie (Deonta) and Jarrett of Goodyear, AZ. She also had great-grandkids, great-great-grandkids, nieces and nephews.

Glendia enjoyed every Dallas Cowboys season regardless of how well they did or did not do and more recently, also enjoyed watching Notre Dame Football. She loved her pet chihuahua, Penny and her turtle, Nogi. She enjoyed watching the sunset, especially while in Carlsbad, CA with loved ones.  She was fiercely loyal to her family offering her love and help always.  A devoted mom, grandma, sister, aunt, friend, and mother-in-law, Glendia will be missed by all who knew her.
