Guillermina Soto Olivas

Gullermina S. Olivas, 74, of Sahuarita Az, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was preceded by her husband of 50 years Eugenio M. Olivas in 2014. She leaves behind her daughter Rosalva Olivas and son Eugene Olivas , 3 brothers;  Humberto, Norberto, and Oscar ,2 sisters; Imelda and Bertha. 9 grandchildren; Maribel, Daniel, Victor, Gabriel, Olivia, Alberto, Gilberto, Ilianna, and Eugene Jr. as well as 17 great grandchildren.and numerous other family members and friends.

Guillermina was born of Oscar and Francisca on October 18, 1944 in Saric, Sonora. She moved to Arizona and raised a family with her husband of 50 years. They kept a farm in Sahuarita, Az of various animals and crops for about twenty five years, before starting her career at La Posada for 28 years.

Guillermina had various hobbies, she loved to cook many things from scratch and make fresh cheese from her live stock. She made the best homemade tortillas on her comal in the back yard of her home. Her traditional tamales were very hard to say no to. She loved to work in her garden of fruits ,vegetables and many types of chillies. Her home was surrounded by trees ,plants and many many flowers.

Guillermina was a natural caregiver to many, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.She was a teacher, a nurse, and a cook to them she loved to sing to them and play with them.

She enjoyed family get togethers and outings, her favorite activity was going to the casino to play the slot machines. Luck was always on her side she almost always came out a winner. she enjoyed visiting her family and would go as far as Saric, Sonora and Casa Grande, even California just to visit.

Guillermina was adored by many and will be missed by all. her memory will live on within all of us, may she rest in Paradise.
