Longtime produce man Ismael “Smiley” Rodriguez Jr. 79, from Nogales, Arizona passed away on May 31, 2017. His devoted wife for 61 years, Ymelda Rodriguez 80, also from Nogales, Arizona, passed away from a broken heart two days later, on June 2, 2017. Ismael and Ymelda are survived by their son and daughter-in-law Ismael (Rosalinda) “Smiley” Rodriguez III, daughters Karla Rodriguez, and Melissa Rodriguez, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, and one sister, Gloria (Graham) Rodriguez. Ymelda is survived by 3 sisters, Adelina Montoya, Sylvia Gutierrez, Carmen Ibarra, and one brother, Gonzalo Montano. Smiley worked in produce for more than 40 years in Nogales, Arizona and served his country in the U.S. Air Force. His passions were family, produce, golf, football (GB Packers), UA Wildcats, music, and community involvement. His beautiful wife Ymelda, was an avid painter and homemaker. Her passions were her family, music, cooking and helping those in need. A very special thanks to granddaughter Carolina Caballero, who took care of our parents in their time of need, and to all the relatives and friends who called or came by our home, to lend their love and support. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Martinez Funeral Chapel and the Carondelet Home Hospice. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 7 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm with Prayer service starting at 11:00 am at the Martinez Funeral Chapel at 891 W Mariposa Rd in Nogales, Arizona.
