Jesse Rey Cardenas, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on January 8, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 75. Born on December 26, 1949, in Eagle Pass, Texas, born to Raymundo Cardenas and Martina Alcocer.
As a proud member of the Local 570 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Jesse dedicated over 37 years to his craft as an electrician. His commitment to his career was only overshadowed by his greatest accomplishment, which was raising his three daughters, Magda Lina Villegas (Kryc), Araceli Soto (Anthony), and Sonia Cardenas, whom he cherished deeply. His love and dedication as a father made him the patriarch of their family, demonstrating an unwavering strength and devotion that inspired everyone around him.
Jesse was known for his stubborn and strong-willed nature, yet his wonderful sense of humor lit up any room. He was a source of support not only for his daughters but also for many family members and friends. He always made time to help those in need, embodying the spirit of generosity that defined his life.
A lover of life’s simple pleasures, Jesse found joy in riding his bicycle daily and cherished his trips to the ocean. He was also a passionate supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, celebrating the highs and weathering the lows alongside friends and family.
He is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandson, including Ricky Rey Villegas, Jesse Alejandro Villegas, Felicity Monet Villegas, Krycta Lina Villegas, Francisco Antonio Soto Jr., Joseph Jonathon Soto, and Michael Christopher Cardenas, as well as his great-grandson, Ulysses "Bubba" Villegas. Jesse is also remembered fondly by his siblings, Manuel Perez, Guadalupe Cardenas, and many nieces, nephews, and friends who all experienced the warmth of his spirit.
Jesse Rey Cardenas leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, yet his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he cherished most.
