Jimmy Ellis Thornes

Jimmy Ellis Thornes was born September 26, 1958 in Los Angeles, California to Jimmy Thornes and Robbie Thornes. Graduated from Sunnyside high school in 1977. After graduating he joined the US Army from 1978 to 1984 being honorably discharged. After the military, he worked as a cook at a few places, one of those places being Raytheon. He also did janitorial work starting with his friends business in 2006 then was set to retire in September from his current employer at Caid Industries. My dad also worked with our church as a Deacon at Grace Temple. One thing that we'll always remember is him and his brother Michael going head to head in sports, always having different teams. Sports and movies always had my dad yelling at the TV. Everyone always talked about how they could hear him all the way down the block. We know everyone will always remember his smile and his laugh. My dad loved the most to have family around. I know it made him the happiest when we all got together and had dinner and watched some movies or even our favorite shows. Jimmy leaves to mourn his daughters Shanee, Kanesha, and Tamika Thornes, his brother Michael Thornes and also his grandbaby Xureila Ellis Luster Smith. Jimmy's preceded in death by Diarene Ann Danford Thornes, and his mom and dad Jimmy and Robbie Thornes.
