Jose Alejo Jimenez II
September 9th, 1944 – December 13th, 2021
Jose “Joe” Jimenez, born in Nogales, Sonora, the eldest of 13 siblings, touched a great many lives through his excellent work ethic & sociable personality over a long, whole, and rewarding 77 years of life. His legacy: came from little, yet still built a whole lot. A dedicated husband, father (dad, daddy), brother, friend, neighborhood dad, & tata not just to his grandchildren, but also to youth who he barely knew but cared for anyway. Not a ‘perfect’ man by any means, but a man of much character, personality, humor and unconditional love toward those who were lucky to have received it.
Loving whole-heartedly, he was very proud of his children. But, the true twinkle in his eye were his grandchildren; supporting and loving them in ways he only knew, always making sure to check in when all was too quiet for him-- his famous saying: “No se oyen los grillos”. He loved to watch his grandchildren play their sports, and before baseball/soccer games would often leave messages for them to “kick ass”.
Never quite satisfied with the quiet of home, he loved to hop into his truck, turn on his music, and drive wherever the winds would take him; whether it was hunting down deals at the grocery store, dropping into his favorite restaurants, or making sure he stayed fresh with a clean pair of kicks and a visit to his barber (thank you Ronnie, Elite Barber Shop). He loved his daily cafecito, and his grandsons Anthony & Adrian were more than happy to make sure his cabinet was stocked. No matter the time of day, Tata was always excited to have a pot brewed fresh so that he could sit & share a cup with his grandsons who were always happy to oblige.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents Jose Alejo & Guadalupe, daughter in law Yvonne, and grandson Nicholas
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marina Jimenez, & his favorite dogs Sam, Kourtney & puppy Lucky
