Juan was born of humble means in Leon, Guanajuato Mexico. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1955 and began working at Stewart’s Boot Company. In 1958, he married the love of his life, Angelita Nunez. He then worked for Magma Copper Mine, in San Manuel, for 40 years, while supporting his family of 11 children and his family back in Mexico. He retired from Magma Copper Mine in 1996.
After he retired, Juan was very involved with prison ministry where he led communion service and provided testimony and encouragement to prisoners. He worked with prisoners in both the Wilmot Prison and Pima County Jail.
In 2010, he also became a sacristan at St. John the Evangelist Church where he attended daily mass and prayed the daily rosary.
Juan learned how to make beautiful rosaries and provided rosaries for several Catholic churches and youth groups throughout the years. He made well over a thousand rosaries in his lifetime and taught others how to make them.
The family would like to thank all of those who provided care for Juan during his last years in his home. We also want to thank the staff at Care Haven 1 Trejo care facility for their wonderful care of Juan during his last year.
