Julia G Lopez

February 14, 1939 — March 1, 2025

Nogales

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Julia G Lopez, a beloved matriarch, who left us on March 1, 2025, in Nogales, Arizona. Born on February 14, 1939, in Cananea Sonora, Julia graced our lives with her extraordinary spirit for 86 wonderful years.

Julia dedicated over 12 years of her life as a school bus monitor, bringing joy and safety to countless children. Prior to that, her culinary talents shone brightly as she worked for 15 years as a cook for the central kitchen of public schools in Nogales. Julia was known for her generous heart and remarkable cooking skills; Wednesday evenings were particularly special as she would gather her family around her table, where her famous carne con chile and capirotada warmed both their hearts and appetites.

In addition to her love for cooking, Julia was also gifted with a sewing needle and spent countless hours creating beautiful pieces that showcased her artistry and dedication. Her affinity for helping others was a constant theme in her life; she was known for her big smile, affectionate hugs, and the kind words she always shared. Julia’s compassionate nature touched many, and her generosity knew no bounds.

Julia was a devoted member of her church community, regularly attending meetings and assemblies, where her caring presence was greatly appreciated. She had an incredible way of capturing moments with her wise sayings and “Dichos,” which reflected her profound understanding of life and its intricacies.

Although Julia leaves behind a legacy filled with love and kindness, she is now reunited with cherished family members who have preceded her in death. Her son Ricardo Lopez, brothers Manuel, Angel, Rafael, and Bernardo Lopez, and her parents, Manuel and Rita Gonzalez, await her in eternal peace.

She leaves behind her devoted sons Wenseslao Ruiz, Ignacio Ruiz, Anselmo Ruiz, and Alejandro Lopez, as well as her loving daughters Diana Corella and Onory Lopez Reiling. Her vibrant spirit continues to live on through her 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, who will carry forth the values she instilled in them and remember her through the warmth of her delicious meals and the lessons shared with love.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Julia’s incredible life will be held on March 22, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM at 1380 N Mariposa Ranch Rd, Nogales, AZ. Her spirit, so full of kindness and joy, will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
