Leslie Helen Sunstrom

May 23, 1943 — September 10, 2024

Nogales Arizona

Leslie Helen Wood was born in Seattle, WA. At age 4 she moved with her parents James and Marlis wood and her 2 sisters Judy and Susan to Phoenix, AZ. In 1948 the family moved to Tucson AZ. and Leslie attended both Tucson High and Rincon High School. Leslie resided in Tucson until February, 2000 when she moved with her husband Lynn Sundstrom to Santa Cruz County, AZ. On September 17th, 2024 Leslie and Lynn would have been married 40 years.

Leslie had two very successful careers. She was a great wife and mother who worked as an elementary and high school teacher and counselor, and then in 1977 started her second very accomplished career as a licensed insurance advisor/ office manager. Leslie retired in 2003 and she and Lynn moved to Rio Rico, AZ. She volunteered for countless organizations, including the Santa Cruz Humane Society and the Rio Rico Rotary, and she was always very active in her church communities.

Leslie had a very special caring relationship with both of her sisters Judy and Susan, and was an incredible aunt to their five children. her first marriage was to James pyers, with whom she had four children - she leaves behind James Pyers II (his wife Jasmin) and his children Natalie, Elijah and Sarafina; Patrice Pyers and her daughter Elise; Patrick Pyers and his children Anthony, Travis, Jessica, Zach and Lauren; Paula Pyers and her children Wyatt and Ivey. Leslie was also a proudly self-procalimed "Wicked Step Mother" to Lynn's two children Tammy Graham and Eric Sundstrom. All of her children will miss her greatly, as will her five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

One would have to look far and wide to find a more loving and caring person than Leslie. And did she ever have a great sense of humor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to ALS research at 360 E. Coronado Dr., Suite 140 Phoenix, AZ 85004.
