Lynda Lou Giles passed away quietly early in the morning of August 16, 2020 at her home in Rio Rico Arizona, where she enjoyed many hours with her children and grandchildren. Lynda was the oldest of eight children born to Marva and Glenn Barnes. She was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on October 30, 1952.
She met Tom Giles while she was still in high school, and they were married on August 27, 1971 in Idaho Falls. Lynda and Tom lived throughout the west, living at times in Nevada, Arizona, California, Oregon, and Utah before eventually moving to Nogales, Arizona in 1987. In Nogales, they finally settled down and remained in Nogales and Rio Rico for the remainder of her life.
Lynda worked hard throughout her life, not only as a mother to eight children (three daughters and five sons) but also at a variety of jobs, including video rentals, cleaning banks, working for the local Boys and Girls Club, managing a boot shop, teaching preschool, substitute teaching, and restocking the shelves of many a local dairy and/or greeting card section. Up until the day she died, she never slowed down.
Not only was she a hard worker and dedicated mother, she loved to serve and spent the time she wasn’t at her day job in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, serving in various roles in her church, and also serving in the community. She touched many lives for good and will be remembered by all for years to come.
Lynda is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Thomas Niels Giles, and six siblings (sisters Dianne Kunzler, Luana Payne and Anita Ferguson and brothers Lane Barnes, Ron Barnes, and Tracy Barnes), as well as her eight children and their significant others: Michelle Sutton (John), Kent Giles (Sook), Dee Giles (Anne), Mykal Shirley (Paul), James Giles (Cindy), Aaron Giles (Sherrie), Brett Giles (Misty) and Cory Giles (Hector). In addition, she has 29 grandchildren and one great grandchild, with another to join any day. We should also mention her fur babies, that she loved dearly as well.
